Sunreef Yachts introduces in-house yacht management system WETRA

Sunreef Yachts has pushed the envelope in green technology over the years. Its latest development is in yacht management software and technology. The company, now with a superyacht division, has introduced Sunreef WETRA, what it calls “a new generation of intelligent yacht management ecosystem designed to make increasingly sophisticated yachts simpler to operate.”

Developed by Sunreef’s engineering team, Sunreef WETRA connects the yacht’s essential systems in one environment, accessible from the helm, onboard interfaces or mobile devices. The company says the aim is to make technology “invisible”, reducing repetitive tasks, simplifying operation and giving owners and crews the right information at the right moment.

“The best technology is the technology you almost forget is there. With Sunreef WETRA, our goal is to make the yacht easier to understand, easier to operate and ultimately more enjoyable to experience,” said Francis Lapp, Founder & President of Sunreef in a statement.

Sunreef WETRA includes a configurable ultrawide helm interface that replaces multiple independent screens and control panels with one digital environment. Navigation, propulsion, tank levels, electrical systems, weather, alarms and cameras can be prioritised depending on whether the yacht is cruising, manoeuvring, docking or at anchor.

The system also integrates HVAC, lighting and entertainment into one environment accessible through onboard touchscreens, tablets and smartphones. Voice control is available for selected functions. Using occupancy, time of day and user preferences, the system can automatically adapt selected comfort settings while keeping crew in full control.

Beyond monitoring, the Sunreef WETRA system supports automated load management and generator operation according to actual demand, helping crews optimise energy use and potentially reduce unnecessary generator running time. The system also centralises alarms and other critical technical data, with product development moving to allow for condition monitoring and preventive maintenance. Select data can be accessed remotely by Sunreef for diagnostic work.
