CMC Marine to launch new stabiliser designs
CMC Marine, the Italian maker of electrically operated stabilisation systems for superyachts up to 80 metres, has announced the launch of a new range of Low Aspect Ratio (LA) fin designs that the company says reduces drag by up to 30% thanks to a rounded leading edge that reduces turbulence and improves hydrodynamic efficiency. The new fin stabiliser was developed by CMC’s in-house R&D team and is available for Stabilis Electra stabilisers with fin surface areas from 2.10 to 7 m².
Additionally, CMC has announced additions to its portfolio of stabilisers with the new Waveless STAB 50 and STAB 60 models, which will extend the STAB range to applications on yachts of 40 metres and above.
In addition to the new stabiliser systems, CMC Marine has also created a new series of five-bladed propellers for its Dualis Electra thrusters. Developed in-house, the new five-blade propellers reduce thrust fluctuations by up to 30% for smoother manoeuvring and on-board comfort, according to the company.
Finally, CMC Marine has developed a new touchscreen display that integrates CAN NMEA 2000 ports, allowing it to connect directly to a superyacht’s network.
