The foldable, giant outdoor TV screen from C SEED deployed on Leviathan
C SEED, an Austrian company specialising in folding MicroLED televisions for luxury residences and now superyachts, has released images of the new Supermarine HLR TV aboard Leviathan. The TV is designed for outdoor use and combines folding technology with the advantages of MicroLED displays for a superyacht setting.
The screen rises from below deck and unfolds at the touch of a button. The 5.1-metre display can rotate 180 degrees and retracts fully below deck when not in use. The company has already deployed its retractable, large-scale MicroLED TVs to other superyachts, but this is among the first to have the TV located by the outdoor pool.
Located just outside Vienna, C SEED has a production facility and headquarters for design and engineering of MicroLED TVs together under one roof.
MicroLED is a display technology based on tiny LED devices that are used to directly create colour pixels. According to a report in MicroLED-Info, a knowledge hub and community portal for MicroLED professionals, a unique feature of MicroLED technology is the ability to create seamless large-area displays made from small display tiles. This allows for the creation of extremely large displays in which the cost grows "linearly" with display size, unlike LCD and OLED TV displays, which grow exponentially more expensive as the display grows.

C SEED technology allows for folding panels that create a five metre display
A key to making C SEED’s MicroLED displays available on a large scale for superyachts is their ability to fold and deploy or retract. The company has patented an Adaptive Gap Calibration tool for precise alignment of multi-segment screens by automatically adjusting panel gaps in real time.
With an exceptional brightness of 4,000 nits, a contrast ratio of 7,000:1, optimised pixel pitch, and 16-bit colour depth, the display delivers a crystal-clear image even under the intense Mediterranean or Caribbean sun. Whether in full daylight or at dusk, the picture remains vibrant, precise, and immersive—true outdoor cinema on open water.
These MicroLED pixels deliver true blacks, exceptional brightness, and accurate colours. The company claims its TVs have a 100,000-hour lifespan, and its outdoor displays offer bright, clear images in full daylight.

C SEED TVs have a specialised design mechanism to deploy or retract from the floor
C SEED was founded in 2009 by Alexander Swatek together with Jakob Odgaard and Jørn Sterup, two former Bang & Olufsen managers.
In 2013, the company launched its first product, a five-metre display that unfolds after rising up on a column from the floor. The product was a collaboration between C SEED and Porsche Design. Initially meant for luxury homes, the company began work developing solutions for superyachts, which required a greater focus on dealing with space restrictions and technical demands.
The result of that work is the C SEED Supermarine TV. The company partners with audio specialist L-Acoustics to ensure top-quality sound, even outdoors.
