Water-repellent coatings are technological marvels in the superyacht world
Water-repellent coatings are technological marvels and even though they are nothing new, most of them are too fragile to be applied on the field, especially in harsh conditions.
Some researchers at the University of Michigan, however, believe to have a new and effective solution that is “hundreds of times more durable than its counterparts”.
The researchers believe that this new type of coating could be applied to massive vessels so as to reduce the resistance of their hulls and thus reduce their fuel consumption too. By lowering the water resistance, superyachts may also be able to slightly increase their speed as well.
